Fall

From the St. Louis Edition:

We have created a tradition!
Every fall, we friends get together and make pies and eat them of course.
Buttermilk, pecan, pumpkin and sweet potato pie!

Sweet potato soup, salad, fruit and a cheese plate is the perfect fall meal to
go with it.

The lovely colors of fall were so vibrant this year.

We did a little fall project with pinecones.

And God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night. And let them be for signs and for seasons, and for days and years. Genesis 1:14

Our Church Campout

From the St. Louis Edition:

Our church had it's first annual campout in September.
It was our very first time to camp out in a tent so I packed everything we might possibly need.
It was a van full!

We were all camped near each other and shared one fire.

It got so cold that night. We brought the kids into our bed and
piled all the blankets on top to keep warm.

We cooked a yummy breakfast of scrambled eggs, cinnamon rolls and coffee over the fire.

Carrying wood for the fire.

Joel cooking biscuits.

Campfires are one of my favorite parts of camping.
Conversation flows from lighthearted joking to serious conversation and it's a really cozy, comfy
time to be together.

They take this game seriously.

After lunch, our whole group went hiking.

Watching the brave ones swim.

We ended the day with a potluck dinner, campfire singing and a devotional.

Our God comes; he does not keep silence; before him is a devouring fire, around him a mighty tempest. Ps 50:3

Walking, Walking, Walking

From the St. Louis Edition:
One of our favorite things to do is walk the 3.7 miles around the lake. We can speed walk it in about an hour. Sometimes friends go with us.

After our walk, we went to Starbucks. The kids got to have a little coffee
as a treat. They were quite happy.

Stopping for a rest and a drink.

Danny rides his bike while we walk.

for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.

Solar Fun

From the St Louis Edition:

August 21st, we joined some friends to watch the total solar eclipse.

Taken with the phone through solar glasses.

The shadows were in the shape of the eclipse!

A very eerie feeling fell as the sun neared total eclipse. It felt like a cloud was coming, but there was no cloud and it was completely sunny.

As darkness fell, the dogs started howling, the crickets chirped and the
street lights came on. The totality lasted for almost 2 min.

During totality.

It was one of the neatest experiences and so worth making an effort to go see it!

"The heavens declare the glory of God!" Ps 19:1

Peach Picking

From the St. Louis Edition:

One lovely day, we drove out to the farm to pick peaches.

Taking a trailer ride out to the peach trees.

The kids loved picking.

They also loved eating.

After we had our fill of peaches, we moved on to the blackberries.
They were incredibly large, sweet, juicy berries. Danny did
a great job finding good ones and you can tell who enjoyed them the most.

After picking, we browsed the store. The kid karts were a huge hit.

We brought home peaches to eat over the next several days! Peaches are one of my favorites!

And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good. Genesis 1:12
